RONNIE HEREL

Ronnie Herel is a true ambassador of Urban Music presenting for over a decade at the BBC. He was one of 1 Xtra’s first DJ signings, formerly presenting their specialist slot ‘The BBC Radio 1Xtra R&B Show and The BBC Radio 1Xtra Showcase on BBC Radio 1. He was the most listened to DJ via the 1Xtra website and a regular champion of new talent and a talent scout for The Voice UK.

As a broadcaster, he has interviewed some of the greats in the world of music from Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey, Erykah Badu, Dizzee Rascal, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, Estelle, Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Lemar to name but a few, and one of the highlights of his career to date, interviewing the legendary Stevie Wonder.

Ronnie has more than paid his dues in the R&B club scene, which dates back to 1989 with his first DJ promotion The Kat Club at Bar Rhumba. Moving on from this Ronnie established himself further with two impressive London residences “Club YoYo” and “Funk” @ Sound at which time he was voted best club DJ by the readers of ‘Blues & Soul’ magazine. Ronnie’s success has further been recognized with two MOBO nominations in the categories of ‘Best Radio Show’ and ‘UK Best Club DJ’.

Ronnie’s first ever record, released in 1989 was a cover of the Carole King classic, ‘Its Too Late’ featuring Dina Carroll under the name of Quartz.  He has continued to write and produce and is currently flying the flag for SoulHouse Music with a cover of Luther’s I Wanted Your Love, featuring Ali Tennant and much more in the pipeline.

He now presents #TheBigRnBShow every Monday night from 9–Midnight, #MiDrive weekdays 4-7pm and is Head of Music at Mi Soul Radio

JOHN OSBORNE

In 1981 John became the resident DJ at the famous nightclub, Room At The Top, also at this time he worked for Soul On Sound and Soundwave magazines where he did reviews and interviews including Madonna, Kajagoogoo, Nick Heywood and In the mid-1980s on his pirate broadcasts on London station Horizon radio he interviewed artists such as Mary Wilson of The Supremes. John continued to DJ in clubs such as The Hippodrome, Camden Palace, Limelight, Buzz Bar, Stage 3, Cinderellas Rockerfellas, 5th Avenue and The Ritzy. In 1992, John won the BEDA Club DJ of the year award and was nominated for The Disco International award. He also became the presenter of the DMC Mixing Championships from 1992–94 whilst writing in the music press.

In 1996 Osborne started working in legal local radio. He joined Invicta FM, the independent local radio station for Kent owned by Capital Radio. His interviews included The Spice Girls, Boyzone, Craig David, Jim Kerr and Robin Gibb. He presented various radio shows including The Wind Down Zone, Just 80’s, Boogie Years, The Online Request Show and the afternoon weekday slot and the Friday and Saturday night Club Dance Show. He appeared at most nightclubs in Kent during this time.

In 2002 John joined Virgin Radio. He presented many different shows but mainly Virgin Party Classics and Early Breakfast, also covering daytime shows including breakfast and drive-time. He continued to guest DJ at clubs such as Strawberry Moons, Club Boulevard and The Electric Ballroom where he broadcast the New Year’s Eve show on Virgin Radio. When Virgin became Absolute Radio he began presenting Weekend Breakfast and mid-week overnights, also filling in for absent DJs. 

John can currently be heard presenting shows on Jazz FM and Solar Radio.

DANNY T

Danny T started DJ’ing at the ripe old age of 13. Inspired by older peers, he got into Soul & Funk music in the early 80’s. Danny started promoting on a very small scale in the early 90’s around the Essex area, however full time business and starting a Young Family took priority.

In 2015, Danny relaunched his DJ career playing at Essex based Bars & Clubs. As a DJ at many Events/Weekenders within the scene Danny was inspired to launch his own unique Brand, namely Liquid Spirit in February 2018. Liquid Spirit has grown quickly into a unique and trusted brand bringing diverse Dance music, and “Bells & Whistles’ entertainment including Dancers, Percussion, Effects and more, making Liquid Spirit somewhat a Spectacle as well as an Event. The Liquid Spirit can also be enjoyed via its YouTube Channel “Liquid Spirit Family”.

Danny has performed on many events in past few years playing a twist of Soulful/Classic House, Disco, Club Classics, Soul/Funk/Rare Groove, R&B, and Hip Hop, which is his passion. These events include: Liquid Spirit, Openhouse, Ghetto Heaven, Soul Fine, Funky Dory, Brighton Weekender, Boisdale, Overdose of Joy, Jive, Kavos Soul & Reggae Weekender, Foxie Festival, Liquid Heaven, and Soul Box.

JUNE FURLONG

June began DJing in 2008 and has since played at The Jazz Cafe, The Indigo2 at the 02, Funky Nation at Ronnie Scott’s, The Electric Brixton, The Hideaway Streatham, Hayling Island Soul and Reggae Weekender and have DJ’d in Italy, BolSoul Croatia and Kavos Soul and Reggae Week. I am also a partner and promoter of the London Routes of Reggae boat parties.

Her Timeless Rhythms show on Mi-Soul Radio features music from many different musical genres, both old and new, including Soul, Jazz Funk, Funk, Soulful House and Reggae and Lover’s Rock. A Fusion of only the very best music for your listening pleasure.

June has had the great privilege of interviewing many great artists including Patrice Rushen, Ralph Johnson of EW&F, Maxi Priest, Courteney Pine, Third World, Beverley Knight, Roy Ayers, Lonnie Liston-Smith, Will Downing, Eric Roberson, Melba Moore, Ledisi, Eric Benet, Omar, Rachelle Ferrell, Carroll Thompson, Anthony Hamilton, Leon Ware, Bluey from Incognito, Mario Biondi, Rahsaan Patterson, Jocelyn Brown, Barry Biggs, Jaki Graham., The Pockets…I could go on lol!

June plays live at many events around the UK and you can catch her Timeless Rhythms show 3rd Wednesday of the month 7pm till 9pm on Mi-Soul.

PETE ANDREW

Pete Andrew is an amazing radio presenter who has blessed the airwaves for 20 years. His passion for entertaining his listeners has never once fallen short of his reach and continues to keep his listeners wanting more.

Music to Pete Andrew is not just music but an art that should be nurtured continuously, with only the finest soulful sounds. With his first love being Funk which slowly matured into Soul. His record collection is not to be delved into by amateurs and is still growing to this day.

Pete Andrew’s personality roars through the airwaves as he delivers an honest, no-nonsense, heartfelt show that will be sure to leave you intrigued for more. His professional, but warm down to earth style of presenting as well as his vast knowledge of music over the years. With his fan base varying widely, ranging from the young to the more mature listener.

ELLE CEE

Dj Elle Cee was a child of the golden Hacienda era where house music really took off in the UK. Back in the day Lisa exploited her love for music working 15 years for HMV. It was only 7 years ago that she got her decks and started to learn her craft as a DJ.

 

Since then she has gone on to play as resident DJ at the Mother bar in London, and with her husband Kingpinn, resident at the Back to Love events, played at Vocal Booth in Spain, Brighter Days , OPOM , Bolsoul & Bolbeats, and at outdoor venues such as Zeus in Reading and Miami Winter Conference at Montys Sunset Bar. They have also branched out into corporate events playing 3000+ audiences. Elle Cee & Kingpinn also host Soulful Soirée at the Penta Hotel in Reading which is now in its 6th year.

You can hear Elle Cee playing live on Soulful House DJ’s Mixcloud every Sunday, her own Soundcloud page under the name of DJ Elle Cee (LC), and she also has a monthly show on D3ep Radio network. Elle has also presented on Mi-House Radio.

Elle also has a few remixes to her belt and is looking forward to producing more in the future.

Elle’s sound is soulful uplifting house and her love of edits and remixes of classic tracks shows through in the mix. You can often also hear a flavours of gospel, disco, and  Afro house coming through, which she also loves.

PAUL MAC

Paul Mac is one of the most respected DJs on the Soul Music scene. From his base in Manchester Paul has developed a strong following in the North West and further afield with his live DJ sets and radio shows.

Paul has a passion for Nu/Neo Soul, Modern, Rare Groove & Classic R&B going back to the early 80’s where his love of black music started with Hip Hop & Electro. Paul blends an eclectic mix of his musical influences throughout his Radio shows and DJ sets with an emphasis on new contemporary Soul.

Paul has a weekly Radio Show on Global Soul Radio, the format for his show is – Hour 1 features new Modern Independent Soul and R&B, Hour 2 a mix of all era Soulful music and classic R&B.
 
In recent years he has played numerous events on the soul scene in the UK and Europe including Luxury Soul Weekender, Campsoul Festival, Parklife Festival, Bolsoul & Bolbeats amongst others. Paul is also the Resident DJ and co-founder of one of Manchester’s most popular Club nights ‘Soul Central’ at Band On The Wall which is in its 4th year. 

Paul & Soul Central have also been the DJ support for various Soul artists coming to Manchester including Eric Benét, Leela James, Teedra Moses, Eric Roberson, Kindred The Family Soul, Joyce Simms and more…

CALVIN FRANCIS

Calvin Francis’s radio career has spanned the decades, and he is now a well-known ‘household’ name. Calvin can demonstrate commitment and flare for anything that he puts his hand too. His credentials are flawless, and he is a renowned professional voice over artist and presenter.

Calvin spent 18 years with Choice FM 96.9/107.1 and presented, The Quite Storm Radio Programme, which featured the best in Neo Soul, Rare Grooves, Classic 80’s, 90’s Soul and Slow Jams. Calvin has hosted some of the biggest shows, featuring acts such as Blackstreet, Snoog Dogg, Jon B, Donnel Jones, Horace Brown, Tevin Campbell, and Angie Stone to name a few.

He has played in a whole host of venues including Jazz Café, Dingwells, Corks Winebar, Club Matter Indigo O2, Cafe De Paris, Storm Niteclub, Club Cucci, If Bar, Reading Football Club and many more.

Calvin is respected for his musical knowledge, backed up by his private collection of over forty thousand records. He has contributed a great amount to the Commercial and Entertainment Industry.

JON JULES

Jon Jules is a veteran when it comes to the turntables, having been a DJ since 1982 at the tender age of 17. Besides being a resident at the London Hippodrome for over 10 years as well at one of the original “Superclubs” Club UK, Jon also regularly played at London’s Stringfellows spinning at the popular ‘ Friday Night Dance Night’, Camden Palace & Limelight, London as well as Tito’s Palace & BCM, Majorca, Music Factory, Barcelona and even had a lengthy stint at Club Berlin, Perth, Western Australia.

In the late 80s, his love of Disco music and the fact that he co-owned one of the South’s most influential record stores, Jon became one of the busiest House DJs around and is also known to have been involved in helping launch the careers of DJs such as Simon Dunmore, Brandon Block, Dean Thatcher, Rocky & Diesel and many more.

As for today, Jon’s usual style is playing Jazz-Funk, Soul & Disco as well as Soulful & Jackin’ House, His mixing skills are faultless and as well as having true crowd pleasing qualities, this has seen Jon become widely regarded and known as one of the most accomplished technical DJs in the UK echoed by his runner-up award in a public poll for Best Soul Club DJ run by the “Soul Survivors” magazine and the 2020 “Best Soul Radio Show”.

Nowadays, Jon can still be found playing in venues from the size of a “BCM/Ministry Of Sound” to a small intimate bar as well as been a featured DJ at Margate Soul Festival, Luxury Soul Weekend in Blackpool, Soul Family Affair Weekend, Hunstanton, Norfolk as well as the Salou Soul Holiday, Costa Dourada in Spain, The Portugal Soul Weekender, The Kavos Soul & Reggae Week, Corfu, BolSoul, Croatia, Lagoona Soul, Hisaronu, Turkey as well as been one of the residents @ Sweet Sensation, Love Injection, Jive, Luton, The Boisdale, Canary Wharf, London and Ruby Soul and the skill and passion is still very much there for all to see and enjoy. Jon also presents MI WEEKEND BREAKFAST on MiSoul Radio from 7-9am GMT on DAB+ in London, Brighton, Manchester & Glasgow and globally on www.mi-soul.com Oh yes!

Jon was also once a pop star but don’t ask him about that!
